Downtown Minneapolis Skyline

Grabbed a nice high resolution shot of Downtown Minneapolis on Easter Sunday from ontop of the C ramp by Target Field. Had to write out half the resolution I had from the stitch because my computer wasn’t liking it, but it’s still about 25000 pixels wide. Anyone looking for a 20ft wide print?

Virtual Tour – Demo House

To navigate the tour click on the image and drag the mouse. Areas you can navigate to will appear as pop-up boxes. When over a labeled box you can release the mouse to go to the area the mouse is hovering over. You can resume control of the virtual camera again by clicking dragging the mouse again, even when over-top a labeled box. As long as you don’t release the mouse over a labeled box you will stay in the current area. The scroll wheel on the mouse allows you to adjust the focal length of the virtual camera, even up to a very wide angle.

This might be the shortest post yet. Just some surprising results from a curious click on “auto tone” in Lightroom. Bet you’ll like this one Nate, it turned my too short of a night exposure into a nice daytime exposure.

I suppose it did such a nice job due to a lack of light pollution, considering I was out in the middle of nowhere on the north shore.

Well I’m happy with the results of the new Lightroom’s noise reduction upgrade. Figured I’d post some quick test. Took a slightly overexposed shot at 6400 iso into the corner of my dark-lit living room. Here’s the original, which the D90 did a reasonable job controlling really for the iso level.

And here’s a version with the noise reduction settings really cranked up about 3/4 full.

And here’s just a couple close up crops of close to the original 1:1 size.

Pretty sweet, now I just need to set aside some time to setup a detailed lens correction profile for my d90/tokina 11-16 combo so I can take advantage of the new automatic lens correction in Lightroom 3.

To be found just on our planet! Am I addicted to making them if I walk around visualizing what my surroundings would look like deformed into one? Maybe not, but once you have to go though the process to find out then maybe so!

Wide Angle Crazy!

I’ve just been going nuts with my new Tokina 11-16mm wide angle lens, which is probably why it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. Figured I would put up some low-rez versions of the reflection maps I’ve been making. Also been toying with some HDR lighting from a few of these and getting some okay results. Of course I always have to make little planets out of them too!

That new macro I got looks right through wires!

Okay not really from that distance but it’s always good to keep up on your clone painting skills.

Curious as to what this little pineapple looking plant is? Guess I should have took a picture of it’s label.

This one has a nice bokeh.

These little fish are so fast but I got lucky and caught one in focus.

Wish I would have gotten one with a better focus on these cool dudes too.

Noonan Park Geese and Two Ducks

Stopped at Noonan Park here in Alexandria and grabbed a few pictures of some geese and two nervous ducks.

I hope it’s not only animators that think it would be hilarious to see this goose tip-toe along the edge of the water like this.

This one must know it’s on camera.

And finally these two, as close as I could get before they jumped back into the water.

Tamron 90mm 2.8 Macro

Went into a camera shop in St. Cloud looking for a few small accessories and walked out with a new (used slightly) macro. Ha, what can I say… it was a good deal. Here’s a few I’ve taken trying it out this week.

I used this focus stacking software called CombineZP to get a larger depth of field on some of these. I thought the results turned out good considering I used a not very scientific way of calculating the different focus planes while shooting the stack. In other words I just eye-balled it. It’s a really cool program though, mostly because someone wrote it and decided to give it away for free for all us nerds! Check it out… http://www.hadleyweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/CZP/News.htm
